Marvin Sudholt, 87
Marvin L. “Bud” Sudholt, 87, of Breese died on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at the Breese Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 and again on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese. The Breese American Legion will hold services at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, with Father Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will be in St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.
He was born on Sept. 21, 1928 to Leo and Agatha (Buehne) Sudholt. On Feb. 9, 1954, he married Rose Kniepmann at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton. She survives.
Mr. Sudholt was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
He worked as a foreman at 4-5-6 Co. in Highland, retiring after 30 years of employment.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese and American Legion Post 252 in Breese. He was a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball fan, loved barbecuing, gardening, fishing, playing euchre, watching purple martins, driving around Breese in his truck, and going to the farm.
Other survivors include his children, Connie Focht of Trenton, Debbie Wright of Highland, Bonnie Carrillon of Highland, Bruce (Amy) Sudholt of Valley Springs, Calif., and Tammy (Eli) Betancourt of Danville, Ill.; grandchildren, Tonya Runyon, Stacy (special friend Tony Helbrook) Runyon, Janelle (Michael) Kloos, Colin (special friend Catherine Byers) Hecht, Kyle (Jessie) Sudholt, Connor, Landon and Levi Sudholt, and Jenna and Haley Clark; great-grandchildren, Kandas, Destiny and Lauren; step-grandchildren, John, Nathan and Geneva Betancourt; sisters, Betty Huels of Carlyle and Lucille “Dolly” Raish of Bellville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don Hempen of Mokena, Ill., Dolores Sudholt of Evansville, Ind., Rita Sudholt of Belleville, Pat Kniepmann of Lebanon, Sally Brendel of Troy, Ann Litteken of Breese, Martha Bellm of Highland, Bernadette Lechner of Trenton, Rita Liening of Breese, and Jane (Stan) Niebur and of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Benhoff and Maxine Hempen; brothers, Roland Sudholt, Joe Sudholt and Duane “Chub” Sudholt; sons-in-law, Alan Focht and Dallen Wright; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Philomena (Huelsmann) Kniepmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis Huels, Robert Raish, Leonard “Stix” Benhoff, Florence Sudholt, Owen Brendel, Orville Litteken, Clinton “Mick” Bellm, Francis Lechner, Edgar Liening, Mary and Alfred Hammer, Edward and Bea Kniepmann, and Joseph Kniepmann.
Memorials may be made to Celtic Hospice or to the House of Manna Food Pantry.
