Howard Scaggs, 65

Howard L. Scaggs, 65, of Trenton died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Dr. Beverly Wilkes Null, pastor of Highland Hope United Methodist Church, officiating.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1949 in Ashland, Ky., to Thurman and Edna (Saunders) Scaggs. On Oct. 26, 1972, he married Wilda A. Stover. She survives in Trenton.

Mr. Scaggs grew up at Ashland, Ky. Following marriage, he moved to Michigan for 11 years, then to St. Louis, Mo. He retired in 2003 after 30 years working for Ford Motor Co. In 1986, he moved to Grantfork; then to Lee Road, south of Highland, in 1995.

He enjoyed watching his grandson play football and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a real sports fan, loved football and baseball. He was always a Chicago Cubs fan.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 325.

Other survivors include a son, Jonathan A. (Carrie) Scaggs of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Scaggs of Highland; grandchildren, Savannah K. Graham (twin) of Highland, Julia M. Graham (twin) of Highland, Paul R. “Bubbie” Graham of Highland, Malary Scaggs of Kansas City, Mo., Marley Scaggs of Kansas City, Mo., Madelyn Scaggs of Kansas City, Mo., Isabell L. Scaggs of Highland and Gaven J. R. Coleman of Highland; a brother, Leonard (Linda) Scaggs of Medina, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Scaggs of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amanda Kay Scaggs, who died on Oct. 31, 2015; and a brother, Robert Scaggs.
