Violette F.H. Plocher Heim, 93, of Highland died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Christopher W. Hill, senior pastor of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, officiating. Burial was in Hug Cemetery in Millersburg.

She was born on July 13, 1922 in Highland to Robert and Helen (Paris) Kaufmann. She married Laverne T. Plocher, who passed away, Jan. 16, 1945. On Aug. 30, 1952, she married Millard M. Heim, who passed away, Sept. 4, 2004.

She graduated from Highland High School in 1940. After marriage, she reared family. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

She owned and operated Violette Heim Infantware & Manufacturing, sewing custom dresses for Women’s Exchange in St. Louis, Chicago and New York, N.Y. She had sewn dresses for women all over the country. Her work inlcuded themed children’s dresses for sports figures and for young girls to present flowers to the Queen of England. Her dresses have been past down by generations of families.

Mrs. Heim was a very giving person. She always remembered, with gifts, birthdays, Christmas, holidays and special events. She always saw the good in people and always took care of people.

Survivors include daughters, Nancy L. Ronat of Waterloo and Sharon J. Plocher of Williamsburg, Va.; and a son, Gary W. (Brenda) Heim of Highland. Gary was reared by Violette after his mother, Clara Heim (nee Frank), wife of Len, drown in 1955.

Other survivors include her grandchild, Brian S. (Deborah) Ronat of Waterloo, Brandon B. Heim of Jacksonville, Ill., and Lauren R. Heim of St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandchild, Kyle S. and Kailee E. Ronat of Waterloo and Lexus Heim of Jacksonville.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Melvin “Mel” Kaufmann and Julius R. Kaufmann, who died on June 14, 1996; and a sister, Pearl F. Schwyzer, who died on Oct. 16, 1989.

Memorials may be made to Mooseheart, Pug Rescue or a charity of the donor’s choice.
