Anthony C. “Tony” Johnson, 50, of Highland died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Claude Howell officiating.

He was born on March 19, 1965 in Belleville to Richard Johnson and Joyce Reynolds (nee Weatherford). On May 14, 1988, he married Carla Rae Goff in Highland. She survives in Highland

Mr. Johnson grew up in Carlyle and Highland. He graduated from Highland High School in 1984. He worked as a carpenter most of his career for several construction companies, most recently working for Tim Kappert Construction as a project manager.

His interests included working on race cars, fishing and spending time with family.

In 1986, his wife’s niece, Amie, was born; the couple brought Amie into their home and raised her as their own.

Other survivors include his father, Richard D. (Barbara) Johnson of Highland; a son, U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachary R. (Elizabeth) Johnson of Valdosta, Ga.; a niece, Amie (Blake) Harris of Troy; brothers, Rick (Sherri) Johnson of Highland, Jeff (Peggy) Johnson of Odin, Jody (Lisa) Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jamie (Nicole) Johnson of Carlyle; sisters, Brenda (Aaron) Melton of St. Jacob and Lisa (Tim) Driscol of Highland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, who died in 2006.
