Marvin “M.L.” Maedge, 84, of Highland died on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at Des Peres Hospital in Des Peres, Mo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8 and on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, with Father Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be in Marine Cemetery at a later date.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1931 in Edwardsville to Otto and Jennie Mae (Busch) Maedge. On Dec. 5, 1953, he married Mary Lillian “Lil” Williams in Bryantown, Md. They enjoyed 62 years together. She survives in Highland.

After high school, Mr. Maedge served in the Army during the Korean War. While stationed on the East Coast, he met his wife.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Marine, American Legion Post 702, Teamsters Local 525, Farm Bureau, Woodmen of the World, the Senior Citizens of Pin Oak, and he was a trustee for Marine Township.

Mr. Maedge was a hard worker. He loved to bale and haul hay, straw and wheat. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going hunting and to the Marine Coffee Shop. He didn’t miss a sale or auction related to farming.

Other survivors include his children, Wayne (Angela) Maedge of Highland, Mike (Susan) Maedge of Highland, Todd (Beth) Maedge of Marine and Tami (Alan) Rode of Highland; grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Dressler, Michelle Maedge, Dana (Jared) Suhre, Brent Maedge, Tara (Bryan) McKinney, Travis (Lauren) Maedge, Tyler Maedge, Kassie Maedge, Kortney Maedge, Kyle Maedge, Amber Rode and Devin Rode; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Parker and Cooper Dressler, Aiden and Kellen Suhre, Aubrey, Addyson and Bryson McKinney, Devin and Easton Maedge; a sister, Dorothy Ransom of Marine; and a niece, Sherri (Paul) VonEye.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to the Marine Fire Department.
