David Baumann, 94

David J. Baumann, 94, of O’Fallon died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. Burial will be in Gullick Cemetery near Highland.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1921 in Pierron to Barnard and Eunice (Heston) Baumann.

In 1943, he married Ruth C. Lewis. They had two daughters, Sylvia and Elizabeth. This marriage ended in divorce, and she preceded him in death.

In 1958, he married Dorothy M. Budd. They had one daughter, Sundae. This marriage ended in divorce, and she preceded him in death.

In 1965, he married Edeltraud May. They had one son, David Wayne, and this marriage ended in divorce. She survives.

Mr. Baumann was born and raised in rural Highland and attended the Forester one-room school house. He owned his first motorcycle while in high school. He was a life-long motorcycle and classic car enthusiast. His first business enterprise was a poultry farm, raising 10,000 chickens. Then he purchased, developed and ran Lake Suzanne Mobile Home Park. He was a member of Mobile Home Park Owners Association.

He is also survived by his children, Sylvia “Sally” (Tony) Van Natta of Decatur, Elizabeth Pauk of Highland, Sundae Kay (Steven) Bue of Shelbyville, Mo., and David Wayne (Debbie) Baumann of Belleville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol LeFevre of Gwynnd, Pa.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Bernadine Whiting.

Memorials may be made to Gullick Cemetery.
