Charles A. “Charlie” Hoffmann, 91, of Edwardsville died on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7 at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home in Edwardsville. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, with Father Jeff Goeckner officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
He was born on March 26, 1924 in Marine to Charles and Milda (Steiner) Hoffmann. On Oct. 6, 1951, he married Mary Ellen Rosinos in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Mr. Hoffmann served in the U.S Army from 1943-1946, with duty in China and India. He graduated from Raken Technical College. He had worked for Hoover Corp., Hurst Potato Chip Co. in Alton, and was a salesman for Alton Refrigeration for 42 years, retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Edwardsville American Legion, Edwardsville Lions Club, St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville and Knights of Columbus Council 1143.
Survivors include daughters Georgann Hoffmann of Houston, Texas, May (Al) Hoffmann Provence of Houston, Texas, and Jean (Steve) Perry of Edwardsville; grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew Perry of Edwardsville; and great-grandchildren, Karter and Hadlee.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
