Carladine Vulliet, 84, of Highland died on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7 and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with the Rev. Christopher W. Hill, senior pastor of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, officiating. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery.
She was born on March 3, 1931 in Highland to Carl and Lorraine (Thurnau) Gause. On Sept. 7, 1947, she married Rolland W. “Rollie” Vulliet. He passed away on Sept. 28, 2008.
Mrs. Vulliet grew up in Marine. She attended Marine School. Following marriage, she lived on a farm. In 1953, she moved south of Highland.

She did custom cake decorating for more than 20 years. She also played the piano, volunteered at five area nursing homes once a month, and for five years, she was the pianist for the Highland Rotary Club. She enjoyed baking, sewing, playing the piano, refurbishing old dolls, gardening and ceramics.
She moved to the Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra in June 2015.
She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland and the VFW Post 5694 Ladies Auxiliary in Highland.
Survivors include sons, Alfred Vulliet Sr. (twin) of Highland and Walter (Ronda) Vulliet of Jerseyville; daughters, Diane (Richard) Berg of St. Louis, Mo., and Melanie (David) Thole of Highland; grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Schiller of Yuma, Ariz., Todd (Amy) Berg of St. Louis, Mo., Donata Berg of St. Louis, Mo., Martin Vulliet of Kansas City, Mo., Lisa Vulliet, Joseph Vulliet of Highland, Vanessa Vulliet of Kansas City, Mo., Jeffrey (Carrie) Thole of Highland, Dr. Becky (Jay) Rock of Highland, Crystal Thole of Highland, Brenda Vulliet, Alfred Vulliet Jr. of Bloomington, Ill., Christina Vulliet; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, James W. (Stacy) Gause of Sesser, Ill., and Fred W. (Leann) Gause of Anclaron, S.C.; and sisters, Jacqueline (Henry) Potthast of Highland and Jane E. Landolt of Highland.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Vulliet (twin), who died in 1947 at 4 days old; a brother, Carl L. Gause, who died on May 23, 2009; and sisters, Norma Gene Gause, who died on Dec. 24, 2004, Lois L. Steiner, who died on April 11, 2014, and Betty Lou Balke, who died in 1997.
