Charles R. Boedicker, 79, of Glenview, Ill., died on Jan. 16, 2016 after a long fight with lung cancer.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1936 in New Douglas to Clarence and Luella (Braundmeyer) Boedicker. He married Janelle Rabe of Wisconsin, and they enjoyed 57 years together. She preceded him in death three years ago.
Mr. Boedicker grew up in New Douglas, where his father ran the Shell garage. He graduated from Highland High School in 1954. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale for two years before moving to the Chicago area. He ran a heating and air conditioning business in Glenview. After retiring from his HVAC business, he ran ice cream shops in Glenview and Libertyville, Ill.
He was active in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Glenview and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and had served as Grand Knight.
He loved traveling and enjoyed spending time at his condo in Florida.
Surviving are his children to Chip (Judy) Boedicker of Highland Park, Ill., Teri (Justin) Synnestvedt of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Luane (Sam) Gabuzzi of Glenview, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn (Perry) Hall of Springfield, Ill.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
