Lillian Zobrist, 87

Lillian E. Zobrist, 87, of St. Jacob died on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23 at St. Jacob United Church of Christ in St. Jacob, with the Rev. Gary Kniepkamp, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland City Cemetery. Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home in St. Jacob is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1928 in Grantfork to August and Rose (Schmidlin) Weder. On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Glenn Zobrist. She passed away six days short of their 70th wedding anniversary. He survives in St. Jacob.

Mrs. Zobrist truly was a farmer’s wife. She loved being outside, gardening and taking care of the lawn. She enjoyed quilting, stitching and all handwork. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Jacob United Church of Christ.

Other survivors include her children, Jo Ann (Larry) Holman of Highland and Duane (Debbie) Zobrist of St. Jacob; grandchildren, Darik (Carla) Zobrist, Dawn (Steve Mersinger) Zobrist, Billy (Brandy) Holman, Patty Stone, Shelly (Andy) Steinwagner, Keith (Dana) Zobrist and Kristy (Daniel) Patterson; and great-grandchildren, Haylee Petchulat, Lillian Zobrist, Dalton Mersinger, Daniel Pigg Stone, Katie and Cory Steinwagner, Maveric and Jace Holman, Holly and Morgan Zobrist, and Clay, Cody and Leaha Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rick Zobrist; grandson, Paul Ryan Holman; great-grandson, Christopher Stone; a brother; Otto Kaltenbacher; and sisters, Ruth Suess, Irma Mitchell, Ella Kaltenbacher, and Alice and Kathryn Weder.
