Rick Switzer, 56
Rick Switzer, 56, of Branson, Mo., died on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 in Branson, Mo.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home, with the Father Pat Jakel, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1959 in East St. Louis to Joseph and Patricia (Schutzenhofer) Switzer. On Aug. 21, 2003, he married his best friend, Stephanie Branum. She survives in Branson.
Mr. Switzer graduated Highland High School in 1978. He worked for Switzer Foods and Crossroad Ford, among others, and had been employed by Branson’s Nantucket as sales manager.
He loved sports, boating, fishing, golfing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He was an amazing husband and father and a great friend. His No. 1 favorite thing to do was to watch his daughter, Eden, play volleyball.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Joe and Dorothy (Stout) Switzer, and Luke and Rose (Putz) Schutzenhofer; an aunt, Shirley (Schutzenhofer) Cygan; an uncle, Jack Cygan.
Other survivors include his mother, who lives in Highland; daughters, Eden Switzer of Branson, Mo., and Kallie (Jake) Routt of St. Peters, Mo.; siblings, Susie (Bob) Wurth, Lynnie (Stan) Haselhorst, Joe (Peggy) Switzer, Patty Kay (Eddie) Winet, Tom (Kris) Switzer, all of Highland; aunts and uncles, Carolyn Hundley, Tony Switzer and Luke (Karen) Schutzenhofer; nieces and nephews, Bill Haselhorst, Amy Thole, Bobbi Wernle, Joey Switzer, Jimmy Winet, Wendy Hipskind, Jessie Cope, Jacob Haselhorst, Kim Flowers, Abbie Switzer, Chelsie Switzer, Jessie Wilson and Brooke Wilson; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to the family (Stephanie and Eden).
