Patricia A. “Pat” Taylor, 79, of Highland died on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Highland Health Care Center.
A private memorial service will be held at Mosaic Church in Highland. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1936 in Gorham, Ill., to Percy and Clara (Van Pelt) Kreuzer. On June 26, 1954, she married Charles W. “Chuck” Taylor Jr., who survives in Highland.
Mrs. Taylor was born and grew up in Jackson County, Ill. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1954. She lived in Collinsville and Sandridge, Ill., and moved to Highland in 1966. She had a winter home in Okeechobee, Fla., for the last 26 years. She had worked for Gano’s Department Store in Highland.
She loved to bowl and had a 300 game. She participated in local and state tournaments. She also enjoyed golfing and received trophies in both.
She liked to go fishing with her husband for bass and crappie, and she enjoyed watching birds. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was very important to her.
She was a member of Mosaic Church. She was also a member of the Greater Carlyle Bowling Association and the Highland Country Club, and she was a former member of First Baptist Church.
Other survivors include a son, Rick E. (Cyndie) Taylor of Highland; daughters, Deborah M. (Chris) Lanter of Carlyle and Linda L. (Mike) Shelton of Highland; grandchildren, Tom L. J. (Sarah) Taylor of Nashville, Ill., Derrick A. (Ailee) Taylor of Staunton, Nicole R. (Shane) Simmons of Decatur, Ill., Brian C. (special friend Shanon Lautiner) Lanter of Okawville, Steven P. (Kristine) Lanter of Carlyle and Joshua M. (significant other Samantha Nesbitt) Shelton of St. Rose; great-grandchildren, Alvia Taylor of Staunton, Lucy Taylor of Staunton, Faith Taylor of Staunton, Ben Taylor of Nashville, Charlotte Taylor of Nashville, Carson Simmons of Decatur and Ava Lanter of Carlyle; sisters, Mary (Howard “Butch”) Schroeder of Herrin, Ill., and Priscilla Kreuzer of Murphysboro, Ill.; and a brother, Alvin (Doris) Kreuzer of Murphysboro, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Taylor, who was stillborn in 1955; and sisters, Violet Summer and Connie Easterly.
