William Mollet, 93
William J. “Bill” Mollet, 93, of Highland died on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Faith Care Center in Highland.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Father Charles A. Edwards officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1922 in Highland to Robert Sr. and Milda (Welchlen) Mollet. On Nov. 20, 1945, he married Marguerite R. Polin at Madeliene Catherdral in Sevran, France. She passed away Feb. 17,1963. On Aug. 9, 1968, he married Mary Ann Carman (nee Schwierjohn). She passed away on July 8, 1988.
Mr. Mollet graduated from St. Paul High School in Highland in 1940.
He had active duty in the U.S. Army with the 46th Chemical Laboratory Company in England and France from 1943 to 1946, during the World War II.
He worked at the Ford dealership in Highland from 1940 to 1955, and he worked at Basler Electric in Highland from 1955 to 1992 as a industrial engineer. He retired in June 1992.
He liked St. Louis Cardinals baseball, NASCAR, and attending races at the Highland Speedway. He also enjoyed riding his Yamaha motorcycle, which he did until the 1980s. He then enjoyed riding a bicycle. He loved his dog, Bumper.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Perpetual Eucharist Service for 15 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and VFW Post 5694 in Highland for more than 50 years.
Survivors include daughters, Denise A. Kruckeberg of Edwardsville and Michele A. Brindley of Highland; a son, Alan W. (Cathy Quatto) Mollet of Indialantic, Fla.; a step-son, James E. (Jacqueline) Mollet of Highland; grandchildren, Ken A. (special friend Brandi Reinacher) Kruckeberg of Edwardsville, Lisa A. (Kent) Schoeck of Highland, Christopher T. (Dana) Brindley of Highland, Christine M. Scheffel of East Alton; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Schoeck of Highland, Nicholas W. Schoeck of Highland, and Faith O. and Vance F. Brindley (twins) of Highland.
He was also preceded in death by his father, who died on May 21, 1968; his mother, who died on Feb. 6, 1991; a son-in-law, Carl O. Brindley, who died on July 30, 1990; sisters, Evelyn A. “Satch” Mollet, who died on July 31, 1997, Zitha A. Duncan, who died on July 30, 2011, and Beulah R. Humpler, who died on Feb. 25, 2004; and a brother, Robert E. Mollet Jr., who died on July 11, 1999.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Educational Foundation or the Highland Right to Life Society.
