Mary Marchal, 64
Mary E. Marchal, 64, of Highland died on Monday, March 14, 2016 at her home, with her family by her side.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Father Pat Jakel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
She was born on July 9, 1951 in Olney, Ill., to Herman and Marjorie (Cowling) Raber. On July 3, 1971, she married Michael Marchal in Bellmont, Ill., and he preceded her in death in 2003. On Dec. 3, 2014, she married David B. Seefeldt in Highland. He survives in Highland.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, the Highland Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Cursillo, and the St. Paul Parish Council. She was a devout Catholic. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loyal and great friend to many people.
She was proud of her bachelor’s degree in psychology, which she earned later in life.
She liked to cook and had a good sense of humor. She was adventurous and loved to travel. She was an avid supporter of higher education and particularly loved her family at McKendree University, where she served as assistant to president James Dennis.
She is also survived by her children, Michael C. (Kimberly) Marchal and Matthew C. (Jennie) Marchal; grandchildren, Claire, Jackson, Gannon, Ella and Kilian Marchal; sisters, Janice Sawyer and Karen (Allen) Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to McKendree University, St. Paul Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
