Patricia Liening, 80

Patricia M. Liening, 80, of Highland died on Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home.

A private memorial service will be held at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with Monsignor David L. Peters, pastor emeritus of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, officiating.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1936 in Breese to Albert and Agatha (Stuckenburg) Reilmann. On Sept. 30, 1961, she married Leonard J. “Cheese” Liening. He passed away on Nov. 2, 2011.

Mrs. Liening attended St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese, where she played the organ. She graduated from St. Dominic Catholic High School.

She worked in St. Louis for a few years. After marriage, she started working as an admitting secretary at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. She retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital with more than 25 years of service. She then worked for Dr. Debra Feldott-Johnson in Highland for more than five years.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling; they traveled to the 48 states in the Continental United States. She collected elephants and porcelain wash basins/pitchers, and she was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

Survivors include a daughter, Renee A. (Kurt) Glass of Highland; sons, Mark J. (Stacy) Liening of Aviston and Eric B. Liening of Highland; grandchildren, Ashley N. (significant other Joe Knecht) Hall of Indianapolis, Ind., Brandon C. Hall of Highland, Jake R. Liening of Aviston, Samantha K. Liening of Aviston and Alicia M. (Cody) Hanna of Edgerton, Wis.; a great-grandchild, Olivia R. Knecht of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Shirley Hidenfelder of Evergreen, Colo.; a brother, Don (Sherry) Reilmann of Jefferson City, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Al Rakers of Trenton; and sisters-in-law, Mary F. Herzberg of Highland and Nancy A. Capelle of Troy.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara Rakers of Trenton; a sister-in-law, Loretta Liening, who died at age 2 days; and brothers-in-law, Harold A. “Powerhouse” Liening, Herbert Liening, Norman Liening and Eugene C. “Geno” Liening.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
