Elmer H. Frank, 82, of Alhambra died on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, with the Rev. Jerry Amiri, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1934 in Alhambra Township to Clemens and Alma (Ohren) Frank. On July 21, 1956, he married Joan M. Ulrich at Grantfork United Church of Christ. She survives in Alhambra.

Mr. Frank grew up at the place of his birth, on Fruit Road in rural Alhambra. He actively served with the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to the family farm and later was married. He and his wife lived in Highland, Grantfork and Alhambra. He and his wife leased their farmland.

He was a laborer out of Laborers Local 397 in Granite City. Later, he was the laborer for the Illinois American Water Works in Granite City, retiring after 26 years of service. He was proud of his 60-year membership with the Laborers Union.

His enjoyments were spending time with his grandchildren, his red pick-up truck, and cutting grass with his John Deere lawn mower. He was also a member of VFW Post 5694.

Other survivors include daughters, Cindy L. (Ronald) Price of New Douglas and Wanda K. (Brett) Bruhn of Highland; sons, Jerry L. (Ann) Frank of Alhambra and Robert L. “Bobby” (Cheryl) Frank of Alhambra; grandchildren, Eric (Allison) Price of Laurens, Iowa, Ember Price of San Diego, Calif., Megan (fiancé Nick Sauer) Frank of Creve Coeur, Mo., Madison Frank of Alhambra, Tyson Bruhn of Seattle, Wash., Wade Bruhn of St. Louis, Mo., Kyle Frank of Alhambra and Katie Frank of Alhambra; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Marcus Price of Laurens, Iowa; sisters, Dorothy Landolt of Pocahontas, Hattie Keller of Waterloo and Agnes (Roland) Keller of Highland; and brothers, Lawrence (Pat) Frank of Pocahontas and Leonard Frank of Alhambra.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Suess, who died on Nov. 26, 2011, LaVerne Moss, who died on June 18, 2001, Clementine E. “Sis” Rinderer, who died on Jan. 14, 2012, Clara Heim, who died on July 3, 1955, and Wilma Welchlen, who died on Dec. 24, 2012; and brothers, Alvin J. “Bud” Frank, who died on Oct. 10, 2010, Norbert Frank, who died on Feb. 17, 1990, Clemens “Clem” Frank Jr., who died on June 5, 1980, and Duane L. Frank, who died on Dec. 4, 2004.

Memorials may be made to Bond County Hospice and Salem Cemetery.
