Paul Uhring, 96, of Mascoutah died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 11 and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12 at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, with Father Gene Neff officiating. Burial be in Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
He was born on May 27, 1919 in Washington Park to Paul and Mary Uhring. He married Minnie Rehkemper on Jan. 16, 1946 in Highland. She preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2012.
Mr. Uhring was retired from grain farming with his wife. He was a lifelong member of the Illinois Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a daughter, Velma Brokering of New Baden; a son, Norman Uhring of Belleville; grandchildren, Glenn (Renee) Brokering, Daryl Brokering, Jennifer (Jim) Phillips, Amanda (Mark) Griese and Kyle (Alicia) Uhring; great-grandchildren, Tori, Trina, Lance, and Alyssa Brokering, Alexis and James Phillips, Addison Bruni, and Braxton Uhring; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ferd and Mary Rehkemper of St. Rose; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by parents a son-in-law, Charles Brokering; a brother, Michael Uhring; sisters, Anna Feher, Helen Mosolygo, Margaret Uhring, Bessie Bach, Mary Chaney, Frances Greear and Esther Berris; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward and Josephine Rehkemper, Regina and Arthur Klostermann, Veronica and Joseph Reidelberger, Josephine “Josie” and Anthony Schleper, Elizabeth “Betty” and Paul Holtgrave, and Mel Greear.
Memorials may be made to St. George Parish Resurrection Cemetery or Celtic Hospice in Shiloh.
