McSparin making her mark for Crimson Tide
Alabama freshman middle blocker Hayley McSparin, a 2016 Highland High School graduate, leads the Crimson Tide volleyball team with a .340 hitting percentage, which ranks 10th all time in school history in a single season. Her hitting percentage ranks second all time by a Alabama freshman, trailing only standout teammate Krystal Rivers’ 2013 school-record clip of .404.
In a five-set loss to Missouri on Sunday, McSparin compiled a career-best .688 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 16 swings with no errors.
McSparin, who has helped the Crimson Tide to a 14-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in the Southeastern Conference, ranks third on the team in both kills (158) and total blocks (40).
