Thomae qualifies for state to lead a trio of HHS girls at sectional
Highland High School junior Victoria Thomae, freshman Nora Thiems and junior Alyssa Freimann competed at last Saturday’s IHSA Springfield Swimming Sectional.
Thomae qualified for this weekend’s IHSA Girls Swimming State Finals Meet to be held in Chicago after winning the 100 breaststroke (1:07.26) and finishing second in the 50 freestyle (24.42 seconds).
Freimann posted personal-best times with a ninth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (26.22) and a 10th -place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.96).
Thiems made her first sectional competition a good one after posting personal-record times and 13th-place finishes in both the 200 individual medley (2:29.41) and the 100 breaststroke (1:19.00).
