American Legion Baseball: Highland Post 439 to hold player registration
Lee Iten Post 439 will begin its 52th year sponsoring youth baseball in Highland with a player registration Sunday, Feb. 7 at the post home, 1130 New Trenton Road in Highland. Players who have not registered for participation in the 2016 baseball program can do so between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m.
SENIOR TEAM
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 1996 The senior team will play a District 22 League schedule, participate in the Trenton, as well as additional tournaments and exhibition games. They will then enter the American Legion National Tournament, which ends with the World Series in Shelby, N.C., (35 games, plus National Tournament).
JUNIOR TEAM I
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 1998 The Junior team will play a District 22 League schedule, participate in the Breese Junior tournament, as well as additional tournaments and exhibition games. They will then enter the American Legion National Tournament, which ends with a State Championship (35 games, plus State Tournament).
JUNIOR TEAM II
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 1999 This is the second year of this program ,and the beginning of a four-year career in the Post 439 player development program and will be based on interest. They will participate in the Mascoutah tournament, as well as additional tournaments and exhibition games. They will then also enter the American Legion National Tournament, which ends with a State Championship (35 game,s plus State Tournament).
Coaches needed
The Senior and Junior programs are putting together a group of coaches to assist in player development in their collegiate and or professional skills.
