HHS grad Ponce selected for IBCA All-Star Game

Highland High School 2016 graduate Amanda Ponce, a Maryville University recruit, was named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) 3A/4A All-Star Game and her 3A/4A South Girls Team will take on the 3A/4A North Girls Team June 11 at Pontiac Township High School.

In fact, the IBCA All-Star Game will feature two games, a 1A/2A contest and a 3A/4A game, with North vs. South roster formats for each.

Breese Central 2016 grad Kendra Wilken, a Saint Louis University pledge, was named to the IBCA 1A/2A All-Star Game where she will represent the 1A/2A South Girls Team.

Ponce was also named as an Associated Press Girls Basketball All-State Honorable Mention after leading the Bulldogs to an historic season. She helped Highland rewrite the record books with a third-place finish at the IHSA Class 3A Girls State Basketball Tournament in Peoria while also scoring the most wins in single-season history with 31.

Ponce led Highland in scoring (16.6) assists (3.14), steals (1.86), field-goal percentage (56.9), field goals (198) and free throws (145). She also ranked ranking second in rebounds (4.5), 3-pointers (39) and free-throw percentage (77.5).
