Highland Splash sink Trenton Torpedoes, 455 to 68

The Highland Splash sank the visiting Trenton Torpedoes 455 to 68 on June 23 at Highland Community Pool.

Highland had its most dominant performance of the season after sweeping all but one of the 62 total events in the meet. The win lifted the Splash’s summer record to 4-0.

Victoria Thomae, 16, was the lone Splash team member to capture first place in all three of her individual events, highlighted by breaking the team record in the girls 15-19 50-meter butterfly with a time of 32.03 seconds, which bested Alyssa Freimann’s standard set just nine days earlier at 32.50.

Thomae also touched the wall first in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:19.45) and the 100-meter individual medley (1:14.40).

Highland also had 10 other swimmers win two of their events:

▪ Max Gibbs won the boys 15-18 100 individual medley (1:12.24) and 100 backstroke (1:10.09)

▪ Dylan Galbiati won the boys 15-18 100 breaststroke (1:17.34) and 50 butterfly (29.24)

▪ Taryn Stephens won the girls 11-12 100 individual medley (1:22.35) and 50 butterfly (37.09)

▪ Jude Henke won the boys 11-12 50 breaststroke (44.36) and 100 individual medley (1:25.05)

▪ Jackie Barkus won the girls 9-10 25 backstroke (21.47) and 25 butterfly (19.39)

▪ Masyn Smith won the boys 10 and under 100 individual medley (1:40.58) and 9-10 25 butterfly (19.41)

▪ Ella Drysdale won the girls 9-10 25 freestyle (16.92) and 10 and under 100 individual medley (1:46.11)

▪ Sean McGinley won the boys 8 and under 25 freestyle (17.18) and 25 backstroke (20.87)

▪ Tucker Stephens won the boys 8 and under 25 breaststroke (24.14) and 25 butterfly (19.53)

▪ Emily Geisen won the girls 8 and under 25 freestyle (22.15) and 25 backstroke (27.25)

(Events at this meet were competed in meters. There are three swimmers in total from both teams combined who score in each individual event, so one team is allowed to score its top two swimmers in any one individual event. Therefore, each team is guaranteed to score at least one point in each and every individual event. This does not include the meet-opening medley relays or the meet-ending freestyle relays, in which only the winning relay team scores seven points.)
