Sean McGinley, 8, led a contingent of Highland Splash swimmers — coached by Ryan Poss — who competed at the 2016 Central and Southern Illinois All Stars Swim Meet, which was hosted by the Millstadt Dolphins last Saturday and featured swimmers from all over central and southern Illinois. There were even some kids who came from as far as western Indiana to compete.

McGinley dominated the boys 8 and under age division. He was not only crowned the high-point champion, but he more than doubled the second- and third-place finishers with a final score of 28 after sweeping first place in all four of his individual events — 25-yard backstroke (17.79 seconds), the 25-yard butterfly (17.36), 25-yard breaststroke (21.14) and 25-yard freestyle (14.76).

Zander Rapp and Roco Kostelac tied for distant runner-up honors after each finished with 12 total points.

In the boys 9-10 division, Masyn Smith scored a best finish of second place in the 25-yard butterfly (15.67), while he also placed third in the 25-yard freestyle (14.42), fourth in the 25-yard backstroke (18.38) and fifth in the 100-yard individual medley (1:25.41).

In the boys 8 and under class, Dalton Balint had a best finish of second place in the 25-yard backstroke (22.02). He also earned fifth in the 25-yard freestyle (17.65), ninth in the 25-yard butterfly (21:87) and 10th in the 25-yard breaststroke (36:41).

In the girls 9-10 division, Abigail Chalfant took sixth in the 25-yard breaststroke (20.27), 13th in the 25-yard freestyle (16.69), 17th in the 25-yard butterfly (19.98) and 24th in the 25-yard backstroke (24.38). 11-12 Boys:

In boys 11-12, Patrick McGinley got seventh in the 50-yard butterfly (38.43) and 11th in the 50-yard freestyle (34.23).
