Students at schools throughout O’Fallon and Shiloh honored veterans during assemblies last week.
At Fulton Junior High School, area veterans were treated to breakfast before the school-wide assembly on Thursday, Nov. 10, which included posting of the colors by Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard and performances by the school’s band and chorus.
A flag was presented to Captain Nicola Morrison, the mother of seventh-grader T’Keyah Quarrie.
All the veterans in attendance were invited to take a group picture after the assembly in the school’s lobby.
Teachers, staff members and students at Central School also honored veterans during a school-wide assembly on Thursday, Nov. 10.
The assembly included the O’Fallon Township High School JR ROTC Color Guard, guest speaker Roy Piatt from VFW Post 805 and performances by the students. The students also enjoyed a “Hats of to Our Troops” day raising money for the VFW’s VIP program.
Estelle Kampmeyer School thanked veterans, active military members and retired military members during an assembly on Thursday.
O’Fallon Marching Panthers
The OTHS Marching Panthers took the field for the last time this season to perform in Grand National Competition at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The weekend started out with 100 bands from all across the country, including three bands from California, several from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Florida, North and South Carolina.
On Friday night, the top 36 were chosen to perform in the semi-finals, and one of them was the Marching Panthers.
On Saturday morning, they took the field and walked away with 22nd place.
OTHS Fall Play
The OTHS fall play “Magda’s Story” is this weekend. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Milburn Auditorium.
