O'Fallon Progress

Sons of the American Revolution honors local residents

The Progress

The Lewis and Clark Chapter of the Illinois Society of Sons of the American Revolution held it awards night June 19 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Belleville. The group presented outstanding citizenship, heroism, law enforcement, fire safety, flag and ROTC awards.

Flag awards went to 28 individuals and families in the chapter’s six-county service area. The chapter gives the award in recognition of exemplary patriotism in displaying the Flag of the United States of America daily and prominently. Among this year’s recipients were Jerry and Bridget Bundt of O’Fallon, Mike and Cindy Drury of O’Fallon, and Rick and Shelly Fitzhugh of O’Fallon.

The chapter also presented awards to six outstanding ROTC cadets, including Lt. Col. Parker Anderson of O’Fallon Township High School.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a national organization with state societies and local chapters. Counties served by the Lewis & Clark chapter are St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph, Washington, Clinton and Jefferson.
