O’Fallon Township High School seniors Dylan Arndt and Maddie Love have been chosen students of the month for April.
Each was selected for the honor based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
Arndt, 18, is the son of Bart and Lisa Arndt. His school activities include National Honor Society (Project Coordinator), Student Council (Public Relations Officer), OTHS Marching Panthers (Section Leader), OTHS Honors Wind Ensemble and Panther Beat anchor.
His community involvement includes teaching six alto saxophone lessons per week, teaching at the O’Fallon Band Academy for 8th grade and under students during the summer, serving as an active member in his church’s (First United Methodist Church of O’Fallon) youth group and taking mission trips to Joplin, Mo., and Indianapolis.
Love, 17, is the daughter of Lisa Holzem and Ed Love. Her school activities include National Honor Society (Vice-President), Spanish Club (Vice-President), Student Leadership Team, Ultimate Frisbee, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Saturday Scholars, Interact Club, Future Science Professionals, Spanish Honor Society, Blizzard, Friends of Rachel Club and Luke 18.
Her community involvement includes serving as a tutor for students at Estelle Kampmeyer and Laverna Evans elementary schools, volunteering at Parkway Gardens Assisted Living, a fundraiser for the campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities, serving holiday meals at Laclede Groves Senior Living Community, volunteering at the Karen House for Homeless Women and Children, Highway 50 trash clean up, Future Science Professionals and Science Fair.
