Winners of Downtown District Facade Improvement program in O’Fallon announced
To help encourage further progress, the city of O’Fallon created a competitive grant program to help encourage growth in the Downtown District.
This matching grant (up to approximately $15,000) can be used by property owners to improve the exteriors of their buildings and make downtown beautiful. The goal is to improve upon the present look of downtown.
There were nine submissions and not enough money for everyone. So, after a competitive process, a committee of O’Fallon residents, engineers and architects judged each submission. It was a tough choice, but the time has come.
The winners of the 2019-2020 Downtown District Facade Improvement Program were:
The Outdoorsman, 127 E. First St.
227 W. First St.
1st Street Lounge
Lehman’s Barber Shop, 123 E. State St.
Steven Mueller Florist, 101 W. State St.
The grant winners now have six months to begin construction on the improvements of their facades. The property owners will receive grant funding in the form of reimbursement for costs of their facade improvement after the work is complete.
Money from the Central City Redevelopment Tax Increment Financing District were used for the facade improvement grant program.
