O’Fallon Around Town — Aug. 4 edition; Miss O’Fallon 2022 crowned

Miss O’Fallon 2022 is Natalie Hale, who also won Miss Congeniality. Miss Photogenic was Lauren Hairr; Kara Milner was the other Miss O’Fallon candidate. Hale was crowned by Lisa Bennion, the retiring queen’s mother, due to Hannah Bennion being on a mission trip. The 2022 Miss O’Fallon Pageant took place Saturday, July 30, and was the 100th anniversary of the event. This was the first pageant since 2019, as the 2020 and 2021 events were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Christina Rogerson

Thursday, Aug. 4

▪ St. Clair County Genealogical Society — 7 p.m. Online via Zoom. Program: ‘City of the Sun – Cahokia Mounds.’ Justin Smock,Conservation Education Representative at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, discusses the ancient City of Cahokia, which was inhabited by Native Americans from about 700 to 1400. An ancient metropolis, it was an artistic, cultural power center during the Mississippian period, whose inhabitants created the largest earthworks in North America. All honorably discharged veterans who lived in O’Fallon School District #203 at any point in their life are eligible.
