NARFE schedules upcoming meeting

The next meeting of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1019 will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the meeting room at the Golden Corral, 3360 Green Mount Crossing Road, Shiloh.

Buffet opens at 11 a.m. Guests are most welcome. People should remember to bring their Winter Luncheon Reservations to this meeting.

November is Alzheimer’s Month and in keeping with this theme NARFE’s speaker will be from the St. Louis Alzheimer’s Association.

In addition, the annual Health Benefits Fair will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the James Gym at Scott Air Force Base. Many vendors will be on hand to share their insurance materials. The James Gym is located across the street from the Scott Credit Union.

The Federal Employees Health Benefits Open Season runs from Monday, Nov. 9, through Saturday, Dec. 14. This is the opportunity to make changes to health benefits. This year for the first time, the Self Plus One option is being offered by many insurance companies. People should review their November NARFE magazine for details.

The local Chapter 1019 has an established and responsive Service Center located in Building 50, 201 E. Winters St., Scott Air Force Base, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays. The phone number is (618) 256-9350 and is set up to take messages which will receive a response call.
