Obituary: Mildred M. Rakers
Mildred “Dolly” M. Rakers, 82, of O’Fallon, died on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in O’Fallon.
Visitation was held Monday, March 28, 2016 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon, and on Tuesday, March 29 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Shiloh.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, March 29, at St. Clare Catholic Church, Shiloh, with the Rev. James Deiters presiding. Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
She was born Dec. 14, 1933 to Henry and Helen (Thien) Rakers in Breese, Ill.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a talented seamstress and would often hand-sew Barbie clothes for her daughters and granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gervase “Jerry” Henry Rakers, whom she married October 30, 1951, and who passed away May 16, 2014; her son, Don Rakers; her parents; her sisters, Mary Jane (Walt) Kuhl and Elvera (Bob) Jansen; her parents-in-law, Frank and Bertha Rakers; brothers-in-law, Paul Deimeke, Don Mueller, Bob Gerstner, Albert (Sylvia) Rakers, Maurice Rakers and Marcell Rakers.
Surviving are her children, Dale Rakers of Bartelso, Jim (Brenda) Rakers of O’Fallon, Linda (Mike) King of Trenton, Randy (Nadine) Rakers of O’Fallon, and Douglas (Kim) Rakers of New Baden; grandchildren, Marcia (friend Chad Crawford) Wood, Brad (fiancée Cassie Thompson) Rakers, Bruce (Megan) Rakers, Kelly (Corwin, Sr.) Whicker, Kevin (Lesly) King, and Amber Rakers; and 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; brother, Milton Deien, and sister Rose Ann Deimeke.
Also surviving are siblings-in-law, Bob (Jane) Rakers, Carl (Joan) Rakers, Virgil (Beverly) Rakers, Jean Mueller, Dennis Rakers, Mary (Larry) Howell, Ruth Gerstner, Betty (Leonard) Voss, Lucille Rakers, Betty Shenkel and Susan Rakers-Morton, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Heartland Hospice or in the form of Masses.
