Obituary: Jerry D. Schildknecht

Jerry Dean Schildknecht, 62, of Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.. Thursday, Marh 31, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Mr. Schildknecht was born Jan.26, 1954 in Belleville, to Leo and Doris (Keck) Schildknecht.

He grew up in O’Fallon and graduated from O’Fallon Township High School in 1972.

He owned and operated two businesses: Home Flooring, which he sold to Eagle Flooring, and Schildknecht Centerfield on East A Street in Belleville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his brother, Roger (Ruby) Schildknecht of Freeburg, Ill.; his sisters, Margie (Bob) Sommer of Fairview Heights, Ill., June (Louis) Garris of O’Fallon, and Sandy Schildknecht of Pace, Fla. Also surviving are six nieces and nephews, Rebecca (James) Clowers, Angela (Tony) Gilbreth, Steve (Brandy) Sommer and Nathan, Natalee, and Joshua Rujawitz.
