Special Olympics

The 2016 Special Olympics Illinois Foz Ryan Golf Classic will start with a four-person golf scramble at 12:30 p.m., and will be held on Fri., May 27, 2016 at the Oak Brook Golf Course in Edwardsville. Cost for registration is $85 per player and includes an 18-hole round of golf, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. A 50/50 drawing and silent auction will also be held. Fish Fry

The O’Fallon Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary continue to sponsor a weekly fish fry from 4-8 p.m. every Friday at the K of C Hall, located at 402 E. Hwy 50, across from the City Park. The traditional menu of cod and tilapia will be available, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and additional side dishes. Baked cod has also been added to the menu. Dine in or carry out is available. Orders can be called in at 632-6229, and we now take credit cards. Lunch is also available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.

Memorial Day program

The City of O’Fallon will hold its annual Memorial Day Program at the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument, 737 East Wesley Drive, O’Fallon. The guest speaker will be Brigadier General Randall Reed, USAF, Deputy Director, Strategic Plans, HQ, AMC. Participants will include the First Baptist Church of O’Fallon Adult Choir; OTHS AFJ ROTC; VFW Post 805; Miss Lauren Lundy, St Louis Opera Theatre; Craig Bedard, SMSgt, USAF (Ret); the USAF Honor Guard Rifle Team, among many others. The names of 28 newly-inscribed veterans will be introduced at this time. The program will commence at 11:30 a.m. Patriotic music selections will begin at approximately 11:20 a.m. Veterans are encouraged to wear their medals and decorations that day. Please bring your own lawn chairs & drinks. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at The First Baptist Church of O’Fallon, 1111 East Highway 50, O’Fallon.

Blood Drive

The Rotary Club of O’Fallon will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive from 3-7 p.m., Wed., June 1 at St. Clare Catholic School cafeteria at 214 W. White elephant bingo

The Senior Citizens Club of O’Fallon will hold a white elepant bingo, starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 1. All seniors are asked to bring a bingo prize.

O’Fallon Fire to hold 17th Annual Spring Golf Classic

Spring is back, and with it comes O’Fallon Fire Department’s 17th Annual Spring Golf Classic. Join the fire department on Friday, June 3, at Tamarack Country Club for a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The Spring Golf Classic serves as the department’s primary fund-raising activity that supports not only O'Fallon, but the entire fire protection district. For more information, call Golf Committee Chair, Nick Fensom at (618) 409-8772. Tax deductible hole sponsorships are available. All sponsorships will include a sign on a tee-box with recognition at the pavilion on the day of the tournament. The department is also seeking the donation of attendance prizes to be given to golfers participating in the tournament, along with items to be auctioned. You may give your hole sponsorship and/or attendance prizes to any member of the fire department.

Shiloh Troop No. 40 5k

Shiloh Boy Scouts of America, Troop No. 40 will be hosting a 5k and Mile Fun Run event starting at 9 a.m., Sun. June 5 at Klucker Hall located at 14 Park Drive. Please register by Mon. Garden Club

Diane Brueckmann, of Rosey Acres, will present the program, “Eulogizes Roses,” to the O’Fallon Garden Club at 1428 E. Third St. Bueckman will demonstrate the latest and greatest for the growing season at the club’s monthly meeting. The Garden Club’s meeting are free and open to the public. Volunteers who are interested in coming to play in the dirt are also invited to attend garden club planting days held on Monday from 9 a.m.-noon; and Thursday from 9 am.-noon.
