OTHS seeks mentors
Are you at least 23-years-old, have a clean background and criminal record and want to help your local youth? An opportunity awaits if you answered yes to those three questions. Local groups partnering with O’Fallon Township High School (OTHS) District 203 are seeking mentors for up to 40 high school freshman. All you have to do is contact Brandt House, OTHS School Board Member and Chair of OTHS Gap Committee at 502-851-4283 to set up an interview with Gateway YMCA Reach and Rise staff.
United Congregations of Metro-East is collaborating with Gateway Region YMCA Reach and Rise Mentoring Program and OTHS District 203 to provide mentors for up to 40 high school freshmen. These students are from lower income households and show potential for college but face various obstacles. In addition to having mentors, the students will receive extra instruction each Saturday at the high school. There will also be monthly parent outreach seminars providing information and techniques for parents on how to help their student maximize their academic success at OTHS and college prep. Mentors are asked to meet with their assigned student for 1-3 hours a week for a full calendar year.
