Metro-east beauty store burglarized; five arrested

A beauty-supply-store burglary early Wednesday morning resulted in the arrest of five people, including three juveniles and two adults, police said.

O’Fallon Police Capt. James Cavins said police received a call for an alarm going off at 1:54 a.m. Wednesday inside a business. Cavins said police responded to the call within a minute at Elite Hair and Wig, located at 2005 W. Highway 50 in O’Fallon. Police said the front door to the business was shattered.

Witnesses told police they saw people fleeing the scene in a vehicle, which was later found by police within 45 minutes on the north side of O’Fallon, according to Cavins. Collinsville and Fairview Heights police assisted O’Fallon.

After police initiated a traffic stop, five people were arrested. Their names were not immediately released by police.
