Rebuilding Together to hold premier run-ride in Shiloh

She said she has captured 64 Pokémonm including some by the caboose in downtown O’Fallon and the O’Fallon History Museum. “It’s cool,” Clubb said about the app, which was was initially released in July for iOS and Android devices, starting with the U.S. and Australia, with Asian, and European releases to follow. The game has received a mixed critical reception. However, it was the most downloaded smartphone app in the US in its first three days of release and has been a boon to publisher Nintendo's stock value.

K of C Fish Fry

The O’Fallon Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary sponsor a weekly fish fry from 4-8 p.m. every Friday at the K of C Hall, located at 402 E. Hwy 50, across from the Community Park. The traditional menu of cod and tilapia will be available, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and additional side dishes. Baked cod has also been added to the menu. Dine in or carry out is available. Orders can be called in at 632-6229 and we now take credit cards. Lunch is also available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.

PSOP to offer food safety training

Southwestern Illinois College Programs and Services for Older Persons is one of just eight senior centers nationwide selected by the National Institute of Senior Centers to deliver the organization’s “Food Safety 101” training program. During this one-hour training session, older adults will learn about the basics of food safety and specific safe-handling practices for immuno-compromised individuals. Training will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, July 27 at PSOP, 201 N. Church St., Belleville. This event is free and open to the public.

Pachyderm to celebrate

Americans For Prosperity Foundation and the Metroeast Pachyderm Club will celebrate ‘Milton Friedman Legacy Day’ at noon Friday, July 29 at Amore Restorante, located at 1030 Eastgate Drive in O’Fallon. The meeting is to celebrate Nobel Prize winning economist, Milton Friedman's birthday, which is on July 31. Volume one of Friedman's Free to Choose: The Power of the Market video will be shown and Friedman’s thoughts on the benefits of a free market economic system will be discussed. To celebrate Friedman's famous quote, “There's no such thing as a free lunch,” we will provide a buffet lunch for $0.01. Birthday cake will also be served. Registration is now open for this unique, music themed night race, sponsored by Lifelong Music in O’Fallon Schools, and benefiting music education in O’Fallon. The race will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning and ending at Carriel Junior High School. Register before July 25 to guarantee your race shirt. Cost is $25 for a 50/50 blend race shirt, or $27 for a dri-fit shirt — both with reflective details — $30 on race day (shirts not guaranteed).

Rebuilding Together SouthWest Illinois is holding its premier “RunRide-Rebuild Together” fundraiser on Sunday, Aug. 14. This family-friendly event will raise money to provide needed home repair and renovation services to low income homeowners, ensuring they are safe, warm, and dry. Participants of all fitness levels will be able to join a 20 or 40 mile bike ride beginning at 8 a.m. or a 5K walk or run beginning at 9 a.m. The event will be hosted by and held at The Cyclery and Fitness Center of Shiloh, located at 1225 Thouvenot Lane, Shiloh, IL 62269. The entry fee is $25 and includes a free t-shirt commemorating the event. Those interested in walking, running, or riding can register at the Shiloh or Edwardsville Cyclery locations or go online to rebuildingtogether-swi.org. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
