Laws that don’t help police

Dear Editor,

We ask our police to serve and protect, but we made laws that don’t help. These silly laws to carry concealed weapons are crazy. We have our lawmakers to blame for most of these shootings. Who came up with the idea that if everyone is carrying a weapon that we would be safer?

We have 31 states that have passed laws to carry concealed weapons. Some states even allow people to carry weapons into churches and movie theaters. This is crazy. We don’t need guns in churches or the movies.

Someone thought that everyone armed was a good. Well, it’s not. There was a time that you had to start a fight to get in trouble. That’s not true anymore. Nowadays, everyone has the mentality that if you look at them, the first thing they do now is just like in the Old West. You’ve heard the term in the cowboy movies, “slap leather.” We quit talking to each other. We now shoot first and talk later. Please rescind the concealed carry law. We have even put our law officers at a disadvantage.

Some police officers are dead, but like everything else, it only takes a couple of ones to get people raising help. We need law enforcement and not more guns. What we do not need is racial profiling. This needs to stop.
