O'Fallon Progress

We are fortunate to have great police

On Wednesday, the O’Fallon Police Department hosted “Cones with a Cop” at the Splash Pad in the O’Fallon Family Sports Park.

Similar to the “Coffee with a Cop” events, there was no agenda or speeches.

Rather, it gave residents a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and am opportunity to know your O’Fallon officers.

The O’Fallon Police Department will be attending school registrations this year.

O’Fallon Police will be on hand at all O’Fallon District 90 schools and St. Clare to answer any general safety questions and to provide parents with information regarding the following topics:

▪ Procedures to establish a Neighborhood Watch Group;

▪ Registration for the CodeRed phone alert system’

▪ Bicycle and pedestrian safety;

▪ Traffic laws relating to school zones; and

▪ Overall school safety

If you are unable to attend any of the school registrations, but are still interesting in any of the topics, I highly encourage you to contact the O’Fallon Police Department at 624-4545.

For those who have not seen it already, a couple of weeks ago, CNN featured the O’Fallon Police Department in an article showcasing messages of support and gestures of kindness police departments received throughout the country, following the attacks on police officers in Dallas, Texas.

During a shift change, the O’Fallon Police Department found several yard signs in front of the Public Safety Facility reading: “Thank you to police officers and all who put their lives in danger every day to protect us.” In addition to the signs, the O’Fallon Community showered the Police Department with support in the form of flowers, cookies, donuts, pizza, fruit and kind words.

O’Fallon is a very special community and we are all very lucky to have such a great group of men and women dedicated to protecting every resident, business and visitor in O’Fallon. The next time you see one of O’Fallon’s officers, take a moment to thank them.

What they do is not easy, and they will surely appreciate the kind gesture.
