Fish Fry
The O’Fallon Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary continue to sponsor a weekly fish fry from 4-8 p.m. every Friday at the K of C Hall, located at 402 E. Hwy 50, across from the O’Fallon Community Park. The traditional menu of cod and tilapia will be available, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and additional side dishes. Baked cod has also been added to the menu. Dine in or carry out is available. Orders can be called in at (618) 632-6229, and now credit cards are accepted. Lunch is also available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.

SWIC to offer classes
PMP Certification

Selsius Corporate & Career Training of Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) will begin offering Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification courses this fall. The first PMP Certification course is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 29 to Sept. 2, at the SWIC Belleville Campus. This course is designed to provide participants with the project management knowledge and skills that are needed to demonstrate project management mastery and prepare for the PMP certification exam. Sessions will be led by experienced project management professionals with extensive corporate and/or military experience, in partnership with Alpine Security. A second session will be offered Nov. 28 to Dec. 2. To apply for the PMP certification, you need to have either a four-year degree (bachelor’s or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education, or a secondary diploma (high school or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

The deadline for submission of applications for inclusion on the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument for the Veterans Day dedication on Friday, Nov. 11 is Wednesday, Aug. 31. All honorably discharged veterans who lived in O’Fallon School District 203 at any point in their life are eligible. Applications are available at O’Fallon City Hall, O’Fallon Township building, O’Fallon Historical Society, O’Fallon Public Library and VFW Post No. 805 or visit the website at www.ofallonveteransmonument.org. The O’Fallon Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale and craft show from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 24. The sale will be held at the corner of Hwy. 50 and Lincoln Avenue. In addition to offering a limited selection of fall blooming plants, we’ll also offer pumpkins and gourds. and a large selection of fall craft items.

The John Wilt Foundation 5K honor run/walk will take place at on Oct. 1. The run/walk, stepping off from the O’Fallon Veterans’ Monument, will start at 8 a.m. The event honors 1st Lt John Wilt. for BaconFest
The Sgt. Charles A. Fricke VFW Post 805 and Post 805 Auxiliary will be hosting a BaconFest on Saturday, Oct. 15. The BaconFest will raise funds for Relief Funds that help veterans and help promote community businesses. Event organizers are looking for individuals, organizations, and businesses that would like to be vendors. Events organizers are also looking to make this family friendly.
