Tim “Terabyte” Hobson, 375th Contracting Squadron, is this week’s “Showcase on ICE.” Hobson has excelled during his two years’ experience as a Contract Specialist charged with multimillion dollar contracting support to U.S. Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command, 18th Air Force, the Air Force Network Integration Center, and wing requisition owners. Due to a personnel shortage, Hobson juggled three positions as a contract buyer, IT Support/Information Assurance Officer, and the administrative duties of a vacated deputy flight commander position. He developed a rotational laptop test-bench that virtually eliminated network quarantined assets and removed threats to the Air Force Network. He created new electronic filing systems and cataloged 900 IT transactions which streamlined records management and file recovery. He labored 55 hours overtime upgrading a contract writing system and was lauded as a “truly valuable asset.” He was targeted by a business during FY16 End of Year as the benchmark Test Site for other contracting squadrons moving to new platforms due to his innovative tenacity and professional excellence. He regularly extends his expertise beyond the routine call and email, to travel directly to supporting teams and organizations, learning their respective needs and capabilities, and combines the process into a win-win for all.
