Calling all Squadrons and Organizations to once again get your holiday spirit on! It’s that time to enter Outdoor Recreation’s Annual Holiday Greeting Card Competition. The top winners will not only receive bragging rights, but also FSS Gift Cards with values of $200, $150, $75 or $100. The first 20 groups to register will receive free plywood.

Registration began Nov. 1. Don’t delay ... finished cards must be completed and delivered to Outdoor Recreation by 4 p.m. Nov. 29. All entries will be displayed on the base for public viewing. Photos of the cards will be placed on the Force Support website, The top three winners will be selected by judges.

The People’s Choice Award will be selected by the Scott AFB Community via online voting, which will take place Dec. 2-4. The People’s Choice winner will receive $100 in the form of FSS Gift Cards. Note: In order to control the number of repeated votes, all SAFB personnel must vote from off-base computers (no LAN SAFB computers can be used). Vote once a day, as many days during the voting time frame. All votes identified as on-base votes will be automatically disqualified. Unit pride and bragging rights are on the line. Air Force Services Activity is looking for talented active duty, guard and reserve members to compete in the World Wide Talent Competition in the categories male vocalist, female vocalist, instrumentalist, musical variety, non-musical category and dance. Participants have a chance at winning monetary prizes, plus a trip to San Antonio for a professional video shoot of their act and the opportunity to compete for “Air Force Entertainer of the Year.” Submit entries through Nov. 30. On behalf of the 375th Air Mobility Wing Commander, the Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon committee will convene at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in building P3 (375th AMW HQ) in the Commander’s Conference Room on the first floor. This planning committee is open to all active duty, Reserve & Guard members and DoD civilians. The luncheon is scheduled for Jan. 12. Please direct questions to the EO office at 256-6581 or to Lt. Join the Fitness and James Sports Centers by participating in the Turkey Feast 5K Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Nov. 18. The run will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Parade Grounds. Entry fee is $12 for those wanting a long sleeve T-shirt and to be eligible for awards. To receive a T-shirt on race day, participants must have registered by Nov. 15. Awards will be given to the 1st place male/female paid finishers, and all paid finishers will be entered into a prize drawing. The event is open to all Active Duty, Reserve, Air National Guard, Retirees, Dependents and DoD Civilians. Be challenged physically and connect with nature as the Outdoor Adventure Program takes you on a Hike and Cave Rappelling adventure on Nov. 19. Bring hiking boots or sturdy shoes, warm clothes, knapsack, trail lunch, snacks and water. Trip strenuous level is 4 out of 5. Adventure is open to all (ages 12+). Adventure fee: $90. Buses will depart Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 3176, at 7:30 a.m., returning around 6 p.m. Registration required. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The VCC will be closed Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 24 and 31 this year due to the holidays. The VCC will be open from 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. only Nov. 25. The VCC understands many of their customers have family visiting, so encourage them to get their passes in advance if possible to help avoid delays or long lines. Dads: The Basics is a three-part course specifically developed for both new and experienced dads to learn about caring for their baby, their partner, and themselves.
