RONALD KING MEMORIAL 5K
Come join the 375th Contracting Squadron in honoring the late Staff Sgt. Ronald King who lost his life during the bombing of the Khobar Towers in 1996. The 5K runners/walkers will meet at the parade field at 7:15 a.m. June 22 followed by a brief commemorative speech before the run starts at 7:30 a.m. The run will start and end at the parade fields. CENTENNIAL GOLF CLASSIC
Celebrate Scott Air Force Base’s 100th Birthday at the Centennial Golf Classic on June 23. This four-person scramble has a noon shotgun start. R4R: HORSEBACK RIDING
Take a long scenic Horseback Ride through the Shawnee National Forest with the Outdoor Adventure Program on June 24. Trails offer scenic views of the forest, streams, waterfalls, caves and more. There is a weight limit for riding, ask staff for details. This event qualifies as R4R Initiative—provides exciting outdoor adventures for those in pre/post deployment and their families for a nominal fee, but everyone is welcome. Adventure open to ages 12 & up. Adventure fee: $120. R4R Adventure fee: $15. Time: 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Registration required. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. R4R: MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIP
Learn to climb, descend and ride over obstacles with the Outdoor Adventure Program on the SIUE Campus in Edwardsville. Hit the bike trails after completing the basic riding course.
