5210 HEALTHY MILITARY CHILDREN GREAT OUTDOORS CHALLENGE PHOTO CONTEST
The 5210 Great Outdoors Challenge photo contest and bike give-a-way will take place from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. July 27 at the Base Library Auditorium. The USO, the National Park Service, Health Promotion and representatives from the local Boy/Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and 4H will participate in the event. Prizes and bike raffle begins at 12:30 p.m. followed by a free movie. Children should bring their 5210 Great Outdoors Challenge Passports to turn in for a challenge reward. MVRBC BLOOD DRIVE
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center mobile blood collection bus will be in front of the Commissary 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 27. R4R: BASS RIVER OVERNIGHT CAMP & CANOE TRIP
Join the Outdoor Adventure Program on a two-day trip to Bass River Resorts in Missouri July 29-30. This event qualifies as R4R Initiative—provides exciting outdoor adventures for those in pre/post deployment and their families for a nominal fee, but everyone is welcome. Open to ages 14 & up. Adventure fee: $110. R4R fee: $20. Time: 6:30 a.m. July 29 to 9 p.m. July 30. Registration required. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. ODR ANNUAL BOAT REGATTA
Outdoor Recreation is calling all captains and first mates to participate in the Great Scott AFB Cardboard Boat Regatta at 11 a.m. Aug. 4. at the Fitness Center Pool. All base affiliates military and civilian are asked to form a team of at least two, to participate in the Regatta for chances to win gift cards. Prizes awarded to the top three boats with the fastest teams, plus the following categories: “Most Creative Design”; “Best Dressed Team/Support Staff”; and the “Dramatic Fastest Sinking Boat.” Teams must provide both a team name and a name for their boat upon registration. Teams are responsible for the cost and construction of their boats. Note: Boats must be pre-constructed entirely of “corrugated” cardboard and duct tape, and in place by 10:30 a.m. the day of event. Pre-inspection of the fleet will be at this time. Patrons must be 16 & older to participate and members of the crew must be able to swim.
