Outdoor Recreation is calling all captains and first mates to participate in the Great Scott AFB Cardboard Boat Regatta at 11 a.m. Aug. 4. at the Fitness Center Pool. All base affiliates military and civilian are asked to form a team of at least two, to participate in the Regatta for chances to win gift cards. Prizes awarded to the top three boats with the fastest teams, plus the following categories: “Most Creative Design”; “Best Dressed Team/Support Staff”; and the “Dramatic Fastest Sinking Boat.” Teams must provide both a team name and a name for their boat upon registration. Teams are responsible for the cost and construction of their boats.

Note: Boats must be pre-constructed entirely of “corrugated” cardboard and duct tape, and in place by 10:30 a.m. the day of event. Pre-inspection of the fleet will be at this time. Patrons must be 16 & older to participate and members of the crew must be able to swim. For more details, follow ODR on Facebook at Scott AFB Outdoor Recreation, or call 256-2067.



Looking for a place to hold a swim party for birthdays, graduations, or family reunions before summer is over? Call the Outdoor Recreation Aquatic Program to reserve the pool for a private pool party.

Swim parties can be held from 7 p.m.-midnight Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays; or from 9 p.m.-midnight on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

A minimum two hour time limit required. Hourly fees based on number of guests attending:

▪ 1-50 guests: $40/hour;

▪ 51-100 guests: $60/hour;

▪ 101-150 guests: $80/hour; or

▪ 151-200 guests: $100/hour.

All reservations must be made at least one week prior to the party. Call 256-2067.

Kids ages 15 and under can bowl for free during the summer at the Stars & Strikes Bowling Center. To get started, sign up via and start receiving coupons. Registered kids will receive two free games of bowling daily during the summer—through Sept. 4.

Families also have the opportunity to purchase a discounted “Family Pass for Four” for only $28.95.
