OCT. 6
PINK AND PURPLE POOCH PARADE
This year, dogs are joining the fight against breast cancer and domestic violence as they will participate in the Pink and Purple Pooch Parade scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 6.
No pooch? Spectators are encouraged to line the street and watch the parade of dogs and their human families. The parade will commence at the Parade Field and conclude at the Airman Leadership School Pavilion.
The parade will also feature a D.J., photo booth, resource tables and lunch provided by the USO. The first 100 registered will receive a free t-shirt, backpack and water bottle.
6TH ANNUAL MAYBIN RELAY RACE
The 6th Annual Maybin Relay Race honoring Tech. Sgt. Michael Maybin will take place beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 6 at Warrior Park. Teams of six can compete in the relay race around the flight line track. To register a team follow this link—https://maybinrun.eventbrite.com. ST. LOUIS DOWNTOWN AIRPORT OPEN HOUSE, FLY-IN, & AVIATION JOB FAIR
Come out for a great day of aviation from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7 at the St. Louis Downtown Airport just across the river from the Gateway Arch. This free event will feature warbirds, bi-planes, military aircraft, helicopters, gyrocopters, and more aviation related equipment and activities. There will also be live music, food, classic cars, and free Young Eagle airplane rides for those 8-18 (with parental permission). For those seeking jobs or careers in aviation there will be recruiters and informational booths. Parking is free.
R4R: CACHE RIVER CANOE TRIP
Canoe through a cypress-tupelo swamp in Illinois? Yes, it exits! Come with the Outdoor Adventure Program on Oct. 7 as they explore the Bottom Land Swamp area of Cache River State Natural Area. Paddle 6 miles through rivers, swamps and ponds, all surrounded by hundred year old cypress trees and multitudes of bird species. This event qualifies as R4R Initiative—provides exciting outdoor adventures for those in pre/post deployment and their families for a nominal fee, but everyone is welcome. Open to ages 14 & up. Adventure fee—$15. R4R fee—$5. Time: 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Registration required. Under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. CYBER SECURITY INFORMATION
The National Cyber Security Awareness Month committee will provide cyber security information to the public from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Base Exchange. A team of cyber professionals will demonstrate easy-to-do tips for securing the personal information and technological equipment of individuals from the threats that exist within the internet. The committee also will provide this demonstration Oct. 18 and 25.

TAKE THE ULTIMATE JUGGERNAUT CHALLENGE
Get a four-person team ready to compete at 3 p.m. Oct. 13 “First Friday” at the Scott Event Center. Some of the events include low crawl, pumpkin squat, tire flip, inflatable obstacle course and more. The 1st place team will win a $300 375th Force Support Squadron gift card with 2nd place receiving a $200 FSS gift card. Costumes are encouraged ... the best male and female costume will win a $50 FSS Gift Card. Only 18 teams can compete so sign up today. ANNUAL GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Cardinal Creek Golf Course will host its 2017 Golf Championship Oct. 13-15. The event kicks off with a player party for participants and a guest at 5 p.m. Oct. 13. Appetizers and beverages will be served. Tee times will start at 8 a.m. Oct. 14 and the second round will take place Oct. 15. This is a 36-hole Flighted Individual Stroke Play event. Every player in this year’s event will receive a Cardinal Creek Logo Pitchfix Divot Tool, hat clip, ball marker, and a sleeve of Callaway Chrome Golf Balls just for playing. Entry fee is $110 per player ($70 for eagle and premier AGF members), which includes players party Oct. 13, and, for Oct. 14-15, greens fees, carts, lunch both days and prizes. CYBER CULTURE ASSESSMENT
The Air Force Cyber Culture Team will be at Scott AFB Base for a Cyber Culture Assessment during National Cyber Security Awareness Month. This will take place from 9-10 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Base Theater Auditorium, as attendees will learn about cyber issues facing the Air Force. They are seeking input from military members/DOD civilians from all backgrounds. People can get their cyber card stamped for prizes as part of Scott AFB NCSAM activities and visit with cyber experts. VETERAN’S VIGIL RUN
The Air Force Sergeant’s Association will be hosting the 8th Annual Veteran’s Vigil Run from 5 p.m. Oct. 20 through 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the James Gym Track with an opening ceremony beginning at 5 p.m.

SCOTT AFB CENTENNIAL FALL FESTIVAL
The Scott AFB Centennial Fall Festival is scheduled for 2-8 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Scott Event Center. The festival will feature a live concert by David Cook and Ryan Daniel Band plus free food, kids activities, fest tent, fireworks and Trunk or Treat. Keep watching for more details.

YOUTH BASKETBALL REGISTRATION
Youth interested in playing co-ed youth basketball can register at SAFB Youth Center through Oct. 31. Program is open to youth ages 5-13. Cost is $55 for members/$70 for non-members. Register by Oct. 15 and save $5. Volunteer coaches are also needed. A special “Start Smart” Basketball Program is also available for ages 3-4. For complete details, call the Youth Center, 256-5139.
