Retiree Appreciation Day

Retiree Appreciation Day will take place from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Scott Event Center on SAFB.

The event features information booths and the keynote speaker will be Navy Rear Admiral Lee Metcalf.

Military Retiree Appreciation Day brings in hundreds of veterans from around the metro-east and surrounding states annually for the free base event.

The event will take place inside the event center and begin with remarks from Col. John Howard, base commander.

Each year the base sets aside a day for military retirees and their families in the region to enjoy guest speakers, door prizes, and blood pressure screenings.

Dozens of local vendors will be at the event including the AARP, Veteran Affairs, American Red Cross, Widows Support Group and others.

Retiree Appreciation Day is a way for the Scott community to celebrate, appreciate and listen to the stories of veterans who have fought the nation’s battles and returned home to tell about it.

This is for all military retirees and their families in the surrounding communities.
