It’s Air Force Art Contest time! Submit artwork through Nov. 30. Art must be two dimensional of a painting or drawing on any subject and three winners in each category will win an Amazon gift card! Submit entries at today.

NOV. 3


American Idol’s Season 7 winner David Cook will be performing at the Centennial Fall Festival scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Scott Event Center. The live concert will begin at 3 p.m. and will also feature the Ryan Daniel Band.

In addition to the concert, other festivities include free food (3-6 p.m.), kids activities, fireworks (6 p.m.) and Trunk or Treat (6-8 p.m.). Booths open at 2 p.m. Private orginzations who want to participate in the Trunk or Treat competition should call 256-2818. Units can sign up for the Scarecrow Building Contest or the Trebuchet Contest by calling 256-5275 ext. 5801.

Join the Outdoor Adventure Program on Nov. 4 for a full day of exploration at Cathedral Canyon. Area is known to locals as Lower Rock Creek or Dark Hollow, is free of conventional trails, and open to explore cliffs, waterfalls and pools. Hike varies from 4-8 miles. Difficulty rating 4 out of 5. This event qualifies as R4R Initiative—provides exciting outdoor adventures for those in pre/post deployment and their families for a nominal fee, but everyone is welcome. Open to ages 12 & up. Adventure fee—$15. R4R fee—$5. Time: 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Registration required. Under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For more details, call 256-2067.


The Cardinal Creek Golf Course has scheduled their annual Superintendent's Revenge Tournament for Nov. 4 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Tournament format is 18-hole gross and Peoria handicap net winners—no handicap required to play. Entry fee is $45 for daily players and $25 per AGF members. This includes greens fee, cart, range balls and prizes. To register or for more information, stop by the Golf Pro Shop or call (618) 744-1400.

Superheroes and princesses are cordially invited to a magical night filled with dinner, dancing and a “royally” good time at the Tiara’s & Capes Royal Ball hosted by Scott AFB Youth Programs 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Meet special superhero and princess characters, while enjoying a fabulous dinner (compliments of Olive Garden) complete with a chocolate bar, and dancing. Complete the magical evening with a free keepsake photo! Registration required. Open to all ages (adult/parent must accompany child). Admission $30 for first two family members, $5 for each additional family member. Business casual to formal dress, children may come in costume. Call 256-5139.
