NOV. 13

HEALTH BENEFITS FAIR

The 375th Civilian Personnel Office will host the Federal Employee Health Benefits Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Scott Event Center. Current government employees and retired civil service employees will have the opportunity to examine options available to them.

Vendors from several insurance companies will be on site to answer any questions employees may have concerning price increases, co-payments and listings of physicians. For more information, call Mona Brown at 256-9324 or 256-9328.

KIDS CLUB: PAJAMA PARTY

Bring the kids to the Scott Event Center from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 13 for a special Kids Klub: Pajama Party! Kids can come dressed up in their favorite pajamas and have a night full of fun. Enjoy breakfast for dinner, games, crafts and music.

CARDIO EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

The James Sports Center will be installing new state-of-the-art cardio equipment Nov. 14-17. Now until Nov. 17 cardio equipment may be limited as they remove old equipment to prepare for the installation. James Sport Center appreciates everyone’s patience as they continue to make improvements in the base's fitness areas. For more information, call 256-4524.

MOBILE DMV AT SCOTT EVENT CENTER

Need to renew a license plate sticker, but can’t make it to the DMV? Catch the Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles mobile unit from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month at the Scott Event Center. This DMV mobile unit offers basic vehicle services, such as driver license renewals (including road tests), ID cards and vehicle registration. The next date the mobile unit is scheduled to appear is Nov. 15. Order lunch at Zeppelins while waiting. People can just let the cashier know they will be at the DMV area and Zeppelins will deliver the order. For more details, call 256-5501.

ATTENTION ARTISTS ... ART EXHIBIT

In conjunction with the 2017 Air Force Art Contest, the Arts & Crafts Center will host a reception from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 16 to display the work of Scott Airmen and their families. In addition to viewing some great works of art, attendees can enjoy cookies and punch. Artists who want to be included in this exhibit should contact the Arts & Crafts Center by email, 375FSS.ArtsandCrafts@us.af.mil or call 256-4230. Works displayed at the Arts & Crafts Center can be entered in the Air Force Art Contest. The Air Force Art Contest is designed to feature and celebrate works of art created by Airmen and their families. Artists may submit up to two pieces of two-dimensional artwork through Nov. 30. To compete in the AF Contest, artwork must be submitted at https://myairforcelife.com/arts.

THANKSGIVING DAY BRUNCH RESERVATION DEADLINE

The Scott Event Center will host a Thanksgiving brunch from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Included will be a Thanksgiving Day feast, plus breakfast and lunch dishes, as well as a complimentary bar featuring Mimosas, Bloody Marys and more. Pre-paid reservations required (taken through 2 p.m. Nov. 17 or until filled). TURKEY TAKE-OUT MEAL DEADLINE

People can enjoy the Scott Event Center’s Thanksgiving Day feast this year in the comfort their home. Their turkey take-out meals include a 20-pound turkey with stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes/gravy, vegetable, cranberry sauce, rolls and pumpkin pie. Pre-paid orders taken through Nov. 17 or until supplies run out. Limited to the first 50 orders. Meals can be picked up from 9-11 a.m. Nov. 23. Members—$130; non-members—$135. STRUTTIN’ THEN STUFFIN 5K RUN/WALK

Join the Fitness and James Sports Centers by participating in the Struttin’ then Stuffin’ 5K Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Nov. 17. The run will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Parade Grounds. Entry fee is $12 for those wanting a long sleeve T-shirt and to be eligible for awards. To receive a T-shirt on race day, participants must register no later than noon Nov. 14. Awards will be given to the 1st place male/female paid finishers. All paid participants will be entered into a prize drawing for a turkey basket and prizes. The event is open to all Active Duty, Reserve, Air National Guard, Retirees, Dependents and DOD Civilians. *Note: All fun runs are free events unless the participant wishes to purchase a T-shirt and also be eligible for awards or prizes. R4R—SINGLE AIRMAN INITIATIVE: ESCAPE THE ROOM

Using the environment and team work to solve clues, do people have what it takes to Escape the Room? Join the Outdoor Adventure Program from 6:30-10 p.m. Nov. 17 for this exciting game. This event qualifies as a Single Airmen Programming Initiative. Single Airmen fee—$5. Adults—$35. Registration required. FRIDAY NIGHT HOOPS

Boys and girls are invited to play Friday Night Hoops beginning at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 and Nov. 24. Open to two separate age groups—pre-teens 9-12 years and teens 13-18 years. Teams are co-ed so everyone can enjoy. Fee—$10, physical needed. Night Hoops is open to all eligible members of the Youth Center, and teens must still be in high school in order to play. TEEN SNACKS & SPLATS

Participate in a teen art/paint night from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at Youth Programs. Class is free and open to teens, ages 12-18. TIARA’S & CAPES ROYAL BALL

Superheroes and princesses are cordially invited to a magical night filled with dinner, dancing and a “royally” good time at the Tiara’s & Capes Royal Ball hosted by Scott AFB Youth Programs 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Meet special superhero and princess characters, while enjoying a fabulous dinner (compliments of Olive Garden) complete with a chocolate bar, and dancing. Complete the magical evening with a free keepsake photo! Registration required. Open to all ages (adult/parent must accompany child). PLYMOUTH ROCK SHOOTOUT

The Stars & Strikes Bowling Center will host the Plymouth Rock Shootout Tournament at 2 p.m. Nov. 18. Tournament format is 3-6-9 Free Strike. Bowlers will receive automatic strikes in the third, sixth and ninth frames. The best three of four games counts. Cost is $20 per person. Prize payout is 1:4. To register, stop by or call 256-4054.

R4R—SINGLE AIRMAN INITIATIVE: UNDERGROUND KAYAK

Set sail for an Underground Kayak Trip with the crew of the Outdoor Adventure Program from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 18. Kayak the huge abandoned mine complex with miles of underground canoe trails. This three-hour long trip requires one tight passageway, and is not suitable for claustrophobic individuals. This event qualifies as a Single Airmen Programming Initiative. Open to ages 10 & up.
