JUNIOR LEAGUES ‘SIGN UP’ DAY

Fall Junior Leagues are forming and the Stars & Strikes Bowling Center has one more special “sign-up” day from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 18. Kids will have the opportunity to register for the fall leagues plus enjoy free hot dogs, free bowling, some great door prizes and more. The junior league is played Saturday mornings. AUG. 20

STAND-UP PADDLE BOARD REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Join Outdoor Recreation for a beginner’s course of Stand-Up Paddle Board from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Scott Lake. Wear appropriate clothing (people will get wet), and bring summer essentials. Registration deadline is Aug. 20.

▪ RecOn eligible: Open to AF active duty/Reservists and their dependents. SAFB must be duty station for non-AF service members. A person eligible for RecOn can bring one person for same price while spots available; and

▪ RecOn rate: $5. Normal rate: $15.

CARDINAL’S QUEST ESCAPE ROOM REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Come try a new team building experience, Cardinal’s Quest: StL Mastermind Room Escape, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Aug. 24. This escape room is perfect for St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fans. Rooms are fully interactive. People can wear their favorite Cardinals jersey and unravel the clues to solve the mystery and escape the room. Register by Aug. 21.

UNDERGROUND KAYAK REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Join Outdoor Recreation on their popular trip to Crystal City Underground for a three-hour underground kayaking tour Aug. 25. Trip requires one tight passageway, and is not suitable for claustrophobic individuals. Lunch afterwards (individual’s cost). Difficulty rating: 3/5. Registration deadline is Aug. 22.

SUMMER COUPLES SERIES

Grab a golf partner and get ready for the new Summer Couples Tournament Aug. 24. Couples will enjoy a night of fun golf, dining, drinks and friends while experiencing Cardinal Creek at its finest. Tournament date is as follows: Aug. 24. Event limited to the first 36 teams. Tournament fee is $60 per couple and includes 9-holes of golf with cart, range balls and prizes and dinner on the patio. BACK 2 SCHOOL LOCK-IN

The Youth Center will host a Back 2 School Lock-In for preteens Aug. 24-25. Stay up all night playing games with friends, jumping on inflatables, and other fun activities. Food provided. ARCHERY CLINIC REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Learn the basics of archery from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 29 with Outdoor Recreation. Staff will teach correct stance, proper use of recurve bow or compound bow, and proper shooting techniques. Bows, arrows and instruction provided. Registration deadline is Aug. 27.

DIVE-IN MOVIE NIGHT

An end of summer bash will take place from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Fitness Pool. Bring family, friends and guests to swim and watch “Finding Nemo.” Rate: $2/person. Movie starts at dusk. No outside flotation devices allowed. Deep end and slide closed during event. Registration deadline is Aug. 30. Open to all ages. Under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. YP NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION

New to Scott AFB? Parents and children are invited to come check out the Youth Center at their YP Newcomers Orientation scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Aug. 31. The Youth Center will highlight all the core areas they offer on a daily basis. For more information, call 256-5139.

LABOR DAY SCRAMBLE

The Cardinal Creek Golf Course will host a Labor Day Golf Scramble Sept. 3, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. This is a four-person scramble at $25 per AGF member and $45 for a daily player. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Sept. 7 at Zeppelins Food & Drinks First Friday Hispanic Heritage Celebration. Party starts at 3 p.m. All food is free. CARDINALS MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY

Military Appreciation Day will take place Sept. 22 at Busch Stadium where the St. Louis Cardinals will take on the San Francisco Giants. NIGHT GOLF 9-HOLE SCRAMBLE

Join the Cardinal Creek Golf Course Sept. 22 for 9-holes of night golf on an illuminated golf course. The scramble will be lighted only by the moon, glow sticks and glow-in the-dark golf balls. Cost is $70 per person and includes 9-holes, golf cart, night golf balls, glow necklaces, hors d’oeuvres and cash beverage cart on the course. PAINT & SIP

Gather some friends and create a “masterpiece” at the Paint & Sip events offered by the Arts & Crafts Center. The following dates and themes are planned:

2018 FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDER CLASSES

Interested in becoming a licensed Family Child Care Provider? Child care for infants, children with special needs, and care during evenings and weekends are in high demand. Kids Klub is back and will be offering some new events at some new places:

▪ Oct. 4: 5-7 p.m. Build with The Home Depot at Scott Event Center; and

▪ Nov. 8: 5-7 p.m. Arts & Crafts Carnival at Scott Event Center. Arts and craft fun for all.

CARDINAL CREEK GOLF COURSE CAFE REFRESH

The Café at Cardinal Creek Golf Course will be undergoing renovations and will be closed Aug. 20-26. During this time, the course and pro shop will remain open. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause while they enhance the facility. For more information, call 256-2385.

BREAKFAST NOW AT THE BOWLING CENTER

NIGHTINGALE DINING FACILITY CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS

The Nightingale Dining Facility is closed until approximately Dec. 1 in preparation for the newest Quality of Life Initiative, Food 2.0. This major renovation will transform the way they serve meal card holders and the entire Scott community. Food 2.0 facilitates a “campus dining” approach similar to colleges and universities, while eliminating eligibility and rank limitations. The goal of this new initiative is to expand food options for meal card holders and the entire Scott AFB community.
