58 schools support annual education fair
Scott AFB hosted an education fair Aug. 16 at the Scott Event Center with the theme “Learning today ... leading tomorrow.”
“The fair gives us an opportunity to centralize all the information from the local schools and from schools a little further out,” said Tammy Gause, 375th FSS education manager. “It gives Airmen from Scott the opportunity to come in and get information on the school they’d like to pick, and that’s a very big decision.”

This year was the first time the event was held in the Scott Event Center, and the expanded venue saw a much larger turnout for the event.
“Last year we had 42 schools, and we had the fair in our building—Bldg. 1650—which is much smaller, so we couldn’t handle a large capacity of guests,” said Gause. “We moved to the event center because so many people have inquired about different schools, so we wanted to incorporate as many as possible.”
Gause explained that before the fair started the Education Office projected a turnout of 50 people an hour, but more than double that actually attended.
For Airmen, the fair is an opportunity to connect with school liaisons to better help them make informed decisions.
Senior Airman Jon Jordan, 375th Aerospace Medicine Squadron public health technician, said, “We’re coming out to the fair to get educational opportunities that we wouldn’t be able to get just doing our own personal research.

Education is important for everyone on Scott AFB, explained Gause.
“Whether, you are a civilian or active duty, the need for education is definitely evident in today’s society,” Gause said.
