Army Gen. Stephen R. Lyons assumed command of U.S. Transportation Command Aug. 24 on Scott Air Force Base. Air Force Gen. Darren McDew is the outgoing commander of USTRANSCOM.
Lyons previously served as the Director for Logistics on the Joint Staff at the Pentagon and was the USTRANSCOM deputy commander from 2015-17. McDew had served as USTRANSCOM commander since August 2015, and retired Aug. 24 after 36 years of service.
